Multiplayer Tactics

#1) Never stand still. Doing so makes you an easy target for automatics and pistols alike.

#2) Aim. If you’re low on ammo, go for a quick kill with one or two shots to the head rather than running away and finding more ammo after you pump your last 5 or 6 rounds into the opponents arms or body. Aim.

#3) Some guns can shoot through doors. The Magnum, Callisto NTG (with high impact shells) Farsight XR-20. Use this to your advantage.

#4) Go for shields. Basically, shields can just about triple your life. Also, no matter where you are hit, the same amount of shields are taken away.

#5) Lean around corners. If you know someone is waiting in ambush, lean around the corner and let off a few rounds then slip back to the corner. To lean, hold “L”, or “R” and press the strafe buttons. (Left or right on the D-pad, or C< or C>) Your opponents will call you cheap (among other things) but you can tell them to look at the score board to see just who’s winning!!

#6) Make yourself hard to hit. The best person to play as in multi-player is a Maian with the biotechnician head.

#7) Remember Laptop guns. Basically, when you deploy a Laptop gun, it only has the amount of ammo left in the clip. Always make sure you reload the Laptop gun before you deploy it. Also, the Laptop gun can only have up to 50 shots while deployed, so remember where you deployed it (if it’s in reach) and then recollect it, then re-deploy it again. Also, you may only have one Laptop sentry gun out at a time. If you deploy another one, the first one will explode.

#8) If using the K7 Avenger, always, ALWAYS, keep it on the “Threat Detector” setting. This could save your hide when playing with N-Bombs, Proximity mines, or Dragons (in Proximity mine mode)

#9) When using Super Dragons, use up the grenades first. They deal the same damage as a normal big explosion.

#10) When using pistols (such as the Falcon 2, or the Phoenix) on slow motion, you would be surprised how fast you can fire your gun. Unload an 8 round clip into an opponent faster than any automatic by tapping “Z” as fast as you possibly can.

#11) N-Bombs ignore shields. So don’t think you can withstand a couple of them because you will notice that only your health is going down, not your shields.

#12) Never, NEVER play with the DY357-LX. Sure it kills in one or two hits, but that also works for the enemy.

#13) Set up traps. Place proximity mines at key intersections and if at all possible, in dark areas.

#14) When using cloaking devices, save the fuel left in it when there is noone around you. This will help in firefights. Remember, you are not completely invisible when using the cloaking device. You are a little darker than the surroundings you are in. You get 20 seconds of cloaking time per cloaking device you pick up, and can get up to 300 seconds (5 minutes) of cloaking time. Not bad!

#15) If you ever play with the Farsight XR-20, stand in a hard to reach area and try to protect the pick-up zones where you can get one. This will allow you to keep the enemy at bay, and hopefully prevent them from ever getting a Farsight XR-20.

#16) Use Cyclones the right way. When dealing with one or two enemies, use rapid fire. However, when being chased down by 4 or 5 players/simulants, use the Magazine Discharge ability. This will spray bullets all over the place and hopefully take down almost all of the opponents you are being attacked by.

#17) Shotguns are only effective at close range.

#18) Poison Knives will not work against a shielded enemy.

#19) One hit to the head with the DY357 Magnum, DY357-LX, Farsight XR-20, Lethal Injection for the Tranquilizer, or an Instant Kill Crossbow arrow will take down an enemy in one shot if the victim does not have shields. Actually, one hit anywhere with the DY357-LX, Tranquilizer (lethal injection) or Crossbow (Instant Kill) will take the enemy down in one hit.

#20) Never resort to a close range attack. (Laser in secondary mode, pistol whip, unarmed, Lethal Injection) It isn’t worth the hassle! Lethal Injection is only good if the enemy vision is blurred enough so that they are running into walls.

#21) Always, ALWAYS use the strongest gun you have in your arsenal! Basically, almost any automatic gun is No. 1 when it comes to this.

#22) Never use single shots with the Mauler. You are better off using up the extra rounds to make 100% sure an enemy is dead rather than blasting them several times and giving them a chance to attack.

#23) If you are caught in an N-Bomb, never try to re-collect the weapon that you lost. Concentrate on escaping the blast, then pull out a different weapon.

#24) Sedate enemies with the tranquilizer, then when their vision is blurred enough that they are running into walls, give them the lethal injection.

#25)The primary function on the crossbow (Sedate) is just about useless. Always fire lethal arrows in multi-player.

#26) When using explosives, (Devastator, Super Dragon, Rocket Launcher ect...) aim the grenade/rocket at the ground in front of your opponent. I’ve noticed that most people try to hit people head on with such weapons. This way is much safer, and less ammo consuming.

#27) If you have two guns out, you take double damage!

#28) If you have hardly any health left, and your back to the corner while playing with grenades, don’t be afraid to go kamikaze. Hold one out, pull the pin and run directly into someone! There is a chance, (actually, if you are right next to them, it is guaranteed) that you will take them out with you!

#29) Your gun may take a little while to reload. Make sure to slip behind a wall or pillar or whatever so that you can protect yourself. This is very helpful when playing with crossbows or shotguns, but works for just about any gun.

There, that was my list of very cheap multi-player strategies . Some of them may take practice, but they all work and you will thank me for telling you this, and you will thank yourself for kicking some @$$!!

Simulant Guide

This is a list of all of the simulants in Perfect Dark when you enter the combat simulator. (Only selectable simulants)

1) Meatsim : It is hard to get killed by one of these. You are better off standing still killing them. More often than not, if you are hit by a Meatsim, you probably moved into its line of fire! They suck that badly!

2) Easysim : Better than the Meatsim, but not by much! These guys actually fight back, but their aim needs a lot of work. These guys just seem to beg to get killed!

3) Normalsim : These simulants have semi-good combat experience. They will use rapid fire weapons over pistols, and their accuracy is decent. A good practice simulant.

4) Hardsim : This is getting difficult. These simulants will stalk you after they know they have a good amount of ammunition, and are well shielded. They have good survival experience. 80% head-shot accuracy.

5) Perfectsim : Not really perfect, but it’s so close it scares me! Well, not anymore. These guys have 90% head-shot accuracy and only a skilled player can defeat one of these.

6) Darksim : I don’t exactly know how this can be, but a Darksim is better than the Perfectsim. They have 95% head-shot accuracy, can climb ladders as fast as you can run, and start with shields! Also, they are fast. Beware when you fight these guys.

7) Peacesim : These guys get on my nerves. They will run around the entire level trying to collect every weapon so that you cannot use them. Also, they find it more than tempting to disarm you at every chance. Never play with this kind of simulant unless you want to get frustrated.

8) Kazesim : Reckless. Reckless. Reckless. These guys will NEVER keep their distance, even with rocket launchers! Very suicidal.

9) Speedsim : These guys are FAST! That’s about it.

10) Fuedsim : This simulant will choose a target at the beginning of the match and will hunt that player/simulant down until the match is over.

11) Preysim : These guys are annoying. They will kill the weakest player/simulant at that moment. You spend so much time getting your best friend down to low health and you are about to administer the coup-de-grace when BOOM, the Preysim has to cut in.

12) Judgesim : These guys are the exact opposite of the Preysim. They will always try to kill the winning Player/simulant in order to even up the score.

13) Vengesim : Not that much of a hassle. This simulant simply goes after the player/simulant who killed it last.

14) Rocketsim : These guys are terrorist material. They will use explosives whenever possible.

15) Fistsim : These guys will run around the level using their fists instead of guns. However, they will also use close range weapons such as...

Pistol-whips
Short-ranged stream for the Laser
Lethal Injection for the Tranquilizer (Yuck)
Fists (no duh)
Combat Knives (Knife Slash)

16) Turtlesim : These simulants are slow as all hell. However, the advantage they have over you is that they start with shields, and their shields are twice as defensive as regular shields.

17) Shieldsim : These guys SUCK, big-time! They will hoard the shields in the level. Even if they are hit and have the slightest damage to their shields, they will run to replenish their shields.

18) Cowardsim : Refer to the name. They will run away from firefights in order to save themselves. Usually, they will let off a few rounds, then run for cover. You will usually get the “Most dishonorable” award when fighting one of these simulants.

Those are the types of selectable simulants. The special simulants (Peacesim-Cowardsim, can be programed to be any difficulty: Meat-Dark)
